If you want to be a part of a vital service at the heart of your local community and you’d like to develop your skills, consider volunteering for CAB.
Volunteer roles
Receptionist/Information Assistant
This role is part of the frontline face of the service and includes welcoming clients to the bureau, assisting with making appointments and generally helping clients with information that is available in the bureau
Skills required:
Excellent Communication Skills
Patience
A welcoming and non- judgemental manner
The ability to remain calm under pressure
Organisational skills
Gateway Assessors
A gateway assessment will see client initially to establish the facts and decide what is the most appropriate way the bureau can help. Gateway assessors do not provide advice.
To do this you need to:
Excellent Communication Skills
Ability to gather information quickly and effectively
Be able to ask focused and specific questions
Advisers (put title and then a link with info on advisers)
You don't need any particular qualifications or experience to train as an advisor. You need to:
be good at listening and
able to work in a team;
able to read and write English
and do basic maths,
be open-minded and non-judgemental
enjoy helping people
We will train you and offer support during and after training.
